Harris Corporation Provides Full-Scale Broadcast Graphics Solution to Radio-Television Slovenia

WINNERSH, England, April 9, 2009 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has provided a full-scale broadcast graphics solution to Radio-Television Slovenia (RTV Slovenia).  The Harris technology supports a new centralized still and clip store for the graphics department, which feeds graphics to all RTV Slovenia television production and playout workstations.

Based on a combination of Inscriber® G1™, Inscriber G3™ and Inscriber G7™ broadcast graphics systems, the new solution works in an integrated SD/HD environment and replaces an older custom-designed system.  The G7 serves as the central ingest and production workstation.  The G3 is used as a playback machine in RTV Slovenia’s HD studios, while the G1 fulfills the same role in an SD environment.

“We chose to update our infrastructure using Harris® Inscriber technology because it provides us with multichannel 3D graphics in SD and HD simultaneously,” said Mr. Rade Bojic, project engineer at RTV Slovenia.  “Inscriber G7 in particular gives us the flexibility to include production-quality graphics in a professional broadcast service.  The price-to-performance ratio of the solution was also a key factor in our decision to select Harris graphics for this important upgrade project.”

The G7 delivers uncompromised 2D and 3D real-time graphics flawlessly in SD or HD, scalable for playout simultaneously over two channels.  The G3 is an HD/SD on-air graphics system that tackles demanding broadcasts with standard features such as infinite layering, real-time 3D animation and effects, and integrated storage and retrieval of stills, clips and other content.  The G1 is designed for SD-exclusive programming and possesses all of the same creative tools as the G3 system.

“This project at RTV Slovenia highlights the many ways in which Inscriber graphics products can fully support an integrated workflow, through integration with existing products and with newly installed technology down the line,” said Mathias Eckert, regional director, Central Europe, for Harris Broadcast Communications.  “Harris graphics solutions truly provide a cost-effective way for broadcasters such as RTV Slovenia to maximize efficiency, control costs and guarantee a consistent level of quality.”

Local Harris reseller and systems integrator AVC Group was contracted to handle the installation.

Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions for broadcast, cable, satellite and out-of-home networks.  The Harris ONE™ solution brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that enable advanced media workflows for emerging content delivery business models.
