Participants news20 april 2009 Harris Corporation Adds Multiviewer Functionality to Industry-Leading 6800+ Modular Core Processing Platform New QVM6800+ Quad™ "Multiviewer in a Card" Provides Broadcasters with Comprehensive Control/ Monitoring and 3 Gb/s Functionality at a Low Cost LAS VEGAS, April 19, 2009 (NAB Show, Booth N2502) — At the 2009 NAB Show, Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, introduces the QVM6800+ Quad™ card, a quad-split "multiviewer in a card" that brings high-quality, multi-image display processing functionality to the popular Harris® 6800+™ modular core processing platform. "The 6800+ platform has always made it easy for broadcasters to cost-effectively migrate to new standards without rebuilding their infrastructure, and the QVM6800+ module is no exception," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. "It is the only Quad card on the market to offer auto-sensing of all input formats, including 3 Gb/s, HD-SDI, SDI and composite sources. With the QVM6800+, broadcasters can invest in emerging technology, such as 3 Gb/s, at an extremely attractive price point, ensuring they will be prepared for both today's and tomorrow's monitoring needs." The QVM6800+ offers quick configuration, setup and operation. As a three-slot module in the 2RU 6800+ frame, the QVM6800+ requires a minimum amount of rack space, allowing up to six quads to be populated in one frame. The QVM6800+ consumes very little power (15 W), enabling "green" energy-efficient operation. It is ideal for outside broadcast/mobile production vehicles and studio production facilities, as well as existing 6800+ customers, easily working alongside any of the hundreds of other modules in the popular 6800+ platform. The QVM6800+ multiviewer card includes four auto-sensing inputs, as well as simultaneous DVI and HD-SDI outputs. With resolutions up to 1920x1200p, the QVM6800+ module includes embedded audio and video alarm capabilities, enabling operators to immediately respond to any problems, and features minimum processing delays (< 1 frame), a key benefit in fast-paced production environments. Configuration is done with the intuitive Z-Configurator™ layout editing software — an easy-to-use Windows®-based editor that allows a user to quickly configure the multiviewer for setup and operation. The QVM6800+ multiviewer card also supports CCS™ Protocol (CCSP) allowing full integration with CCS Navigator™ monitoring and control software. "Providing comprehensive monitoring in a space- and power-saving package, the QVM6800+ provides broadcasters with the excellent image quality they expect, as well as the flexibility and control to configure their displays to best suit their unique applications," continued Thorsteinson. Harris also announces that its QS100HD Quad™ module, which fits into the expansion slots of the Sony® LMD-xx50W series of LUMA monitors, is now available via Harris channel partners throughout the U.S. The QS100HD Quad module and Sony LUMA monitors together provide a revolutionary HD quad-split viewing solution that offers outstanding performance and image quality for HDTV monitoring environments, while significantly reducing rack space requirements, cabling and power. Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions for broadcast, cable, satellite and out-of-home networks. The Harris ONE™ solution brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that enable advanced media workflows for emerging content delivery business models. About Harris Corporation |
