DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, February 10, 2009 (CABSAT 2009, Stand ZB-21) — Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, will showcase its end-to-end broadcast product portfolio at CABSAT 2009, being held March 3-5, 2009, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Visitors to the stand will see the complete Harris® ONE™ solution portfolio, including automation and sales/scheduling software, graphics products, newsroom editing, servers, multiviewers, core processing, networking and transmitters.
Said Bacho, managing director of Harris Broadcast Communications in the Middle East, said, “The Harris ONE solution has been very successful with our customers in the region, as it addresses key market challenges such as file-based workflows, 3 Gb/s infrastructure and multiplatform delivery. Harris provides interoperable workflow solutions based on open standards and integrated technologies, and as a result, contributes directly to the customer’s bottom line.”
CABSAT 2009 also marks the first Middle East showing of several key products in the Harris ONE solution, including the following:
News Production
NewsForce™ HD/SD newsroom solution: Features a comprehensive range of editors — including the Velocity ESX™ on-SAN high-resolution editor, the Velocity XNG™ field editor and the Velocity PRX™ low-resolution proxy editor — enabling broadcasters to manage the fast cutting, voicing and airing of news. NewsForce™ delivers the industry's quickest time to air, helping broadcasters get breaking news to viewers before the competition.
Broadcast Graphics
Inscriber® G7™ integrated broadcast graphics solution: Uniquely combines the functionality of multiple broadcast graphics products to provide a robust, high-performance 3D graphics creation and HD/SD playout solution with advanced workflow capabilities. The G7™ optimises workflow while achieving new levels of graphics quality.
Signal Processing
X85™ multiple application platform: Designed to help customers manage a hybrid environment of analogue, digital, high-definition and surround sound applications, the X85™ adds new features into its space-saving 1RU frame. These include dual-channel up/down/cross conversion, which provides maximum efficiency; a 3 Gb/s upgrade capability, which allows for an easy, economical transition to 1080p; optional linear frame rate conversion that converts 59.94 Hz and 50 Hz-based signals; optional program delay for profanity avoidance; and advanced audio options for Dolby® E and Dolby® Digital, Neural-THX® Surround up/down mixing, and Neural Loudness Control™ (NLC).
Transmitters
Maxiva™ family of UHF transmitters: Available in both liquid-cooled (ULX series) and air-cooled (UAX series) models, these brand-new solid-state transmitters provide broadcasters with a single transmitter platform capable of multiple modulation schemes. Maxiva™ features Harris PowerSmart™ technology to maximise efficiency and reliable operation.
Harris Broadcast Communications provides products, systems, and services that deliver interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire media delivery chain. The Harris ONE™ solution brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
