Harris Corporation to Demonstrate Integrated Master Control Solution for Streamlined, Cost-Efficient Broadcast Operations at NAB2009

Integrated Switching, Branding, Multiviewer Monitoring, Routing and Automation Promote a

Highly Flexible, Intelligent, Unified Master Control Environment

CINCINNATI, February 13, 2009 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, will present its full suite of master control solutions at this year’s National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show, taking place April 20-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (North Hall, Booth N2502).  For the first time, Harris will demonstrate a groundbreaking master control center that utilizes the company’s full breadth of interoperable capabilities to prepare content for playout to any of the growing number of distribution methods available to DTV broadcasters.

“By enabling tight integration and intelligent, dynamic communication among core systems in the master control room, we’re able to deliver a powerful solution that optimizes the branding, switching and quality control of each signal being broadcast,” said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications.  “Today’s master control environment should reflect the advanced media workflows of digital broadcast operations, as well as the challenges broadcasters face in this economic climate.  Our master control solution achieves this by significantly reducing operating costs per channel, enabling a streamlined, efficient workflow and promoting rich image branding and viewer loyalty.”

At NAB, Harris will demonstrate how the flexibility and modularity of its master control and branding product family allows workflow to be customized to the needs of each broadcast customer.  The Harris master control demonstration will feature a Harris® NEXIO AMP™ advanced media platform providing broadcast video feeds to the IconMaster™ master control switcher, CENTRIO™ multi-image processor, Platinum™ routing switcher and ADC™ automation platform.  The five systems work seamlessly together, greatly simplifying workflow in multichannel situations and for automated and manual control.

The IconMaster v3.0 is an SD/HD-ready master control switcher and branding system that enables control of Harris CENTRIO multiviewers and Platinum routers over Ethernet for maximum efficiency.  With the CENTRIO multiviewer’s integrated, user-defined monitoring capabilities, operators no longer have to scan multiple monitors for problems and can focus their energies on critical decision-making and prompt service restoration.  And as part of the integrated control room environment, the ADC automation platform provides integrated playlist management and simplifies and streamlines device control.

While the integration of the IconMaster master control and branding system, CENTRIO multiviewer, Platinum router and ADC automation platform represents a compelling value proposition, each component can be purchased separately and interfaced with third-party equipment.

Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire media delivery chain.  The Harris ONE™ solution brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
