Multi-Million Dollar use of Evertz KVM Technology

BURLINGTON, ONTARIO, CANADA – Evertz is proud to announce the deployment of KVM technology in the crude oil and natural gas industry. Evertz has recently joined forces with a designer and integrator of Audio/Video visualization tools, to assist in the development of a new facility for a global integrated energy company dedicated to the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas. In this collaborative project, Evertz assisted in the development of technical workstation remote access for the company’s new Exploration and Production headquarters which will allow them to view geophysical data in High Definition. The new 26 storey facility has over 300 workstations, in which each workstation is equipped with two Dual Link DVI monitors (2560x1600) driven by Evertz gear.

The facility uses Evertz high density KVM system to provide real-time keyboard and mouse control of the technical workstations from all remote locations in the building without compromising the resolution or frame rate. To protect against future fiber exhaust, Evertz installed small form-factor pluggable (SFP) devices on all equipment to allow maximum flexibility. The connectivity of the dedicated visualization and collaboration rooms throughout the building is facilitated by Evertz KVM system and Fiber Optics technology.

In this particular application, Evertz was able to provide a completely unique solution to support instances where any workstation could be shared in a conference room setting. There are 58 locations throughout the facility in which Evertz 2430DVT-DVI Dual Link DVI to Single Link DVI Converter was deployed to allow 1920x1080 resolution projectors to display 2560x1600 resolution content from the workstations. The 2430DVT-DVI’s were installed to down-convert the 2560x1600 content to 1920x1080, while maintaining the desired aspect ratio. In this particular case, Evertz provided a custom solution to a specific need where no competing solution currently exists.
